This is classic ragtime blues guitar. If you listen to Mississippi John Hurt, or Rev. Gary Davis, you can quickly see how this can be used as a formula for building tunes with Ragtime Blues Guitar alternating bass techniques. It's fun to experiment with this in the 5 major keys commonly played on guitar in open position: C, G, D, A and E. In our online lessons section we hope to tab out all of these keys with this very same exercise. This is also a great right-hand building technique for becoming comfortable with the alternating bass technique.
